Authoring Apple Help with OmniOutliner
Omni Group, publishers of many highly-regarded applications for Mac OS X, have released their internal toolset used to create Apple Help. It's based on their program OmniOutliner 3, but at its core is a basic XML-based single-source publishing tool. There are plenty of Apple Help-specific features included, such as anchor lookups, summaries, and automatic .helpindex creation. Definitely worth a look if you're seeking a lightweight help authoring solution. See The Omni Mouth; Helpify, the Omni Help Emitter for details.
