When you need fake user data
Almost every technical writer will occasionally have the need to create personal information, such as names and addresses, for fictional people. Sometimes these show up in screenshots or illustrations, at other times you just to be able to enter some information in order to register a product or populate a database.
The Fake Name Generator website belongs in your bookmarks. You can generate gender-specific information for several countries, and even create a vCard for easy important. If you need a lot of fake names at once, you can get them in bulk in several different formats, all for free.
Previously on Usable Help, Nom De Plume, discussed another fake name generator. It's also handy, but the new tool also generates numerically valid addresses, credit cards, birth dates, and more.
