Creating Help from a wiki
Dan Wood writes about creating a help system using content that originated in a wiki. Wood and his team at Karelia Software found that a wiki was very useful for collaboratively developing the content, but users deemed using the wiki more confusing than a traditional help system, so the wiki content was moved to Apple Help instead. If you're faced with having to get content out of a wiki, no matter what you're transferring it to, you'll find the detailed article quite useful. If you just want to see the results of their effort, and you're not a Mac user, you can browse a copy of the new help system online. If you are a Mac user, download a copy of their product, Sandvox, to see the help natively. Sandvox is a very compelling web site creation tool that you'll enjoy learning about.
