Help plug-in for FileMaker Pro
All modern operating systems provide facilities for user assistance such as help systems, in-interface text such as tool tips and help tags, and usually a facility for providing contextual help. But if you're developing in a third or fourth-generation cross-platform environment you often have to forgo such niceties. In the interest of "universal deployment" most tools either leave out the hooks necessary to communicate with the native help system, or they implement a less capable system of their own.
If you're a FileMaker Pro developer, for Mac or Windows, you can overcome some of these limitations by using the SimpleHelp plug-in from 24U Systems. It provides facilities for tool tips and help tags, as well as, if you're feeling particularly experimental, audio help triggered by the user mousing-over an interface element.
