PC & Pixel on product documentation

The comic strip PC & Pixel often focuses on technology, and the October 4, 2003 strip skewers technical documentation.

But the strip can be taken at least two ways. Is it about how documentation is unnecessary for well-designed tools, or is it observing that the much lamented "missing manual" trend hasn't yet been embraced by consumer goods manufacturers? Or, maybe it is just a cute gag.
