The VST Technologies expansion bay Zip drive for PowerBook computers takes an interesting approach to exhorting users to read the documentation. On the drive unit, situated between the "Apply No Pressure" and "Fragile" symbols is a plea to "Please Read The User's Guide."
As far as I know, there hasn't been an international agreement on symbols for encouraging consumers to read product documentation. Kudos for VST for creating their own. Although, since the product doesn't come with a printed manual, I find their choice of imagery rather archaic.
Perhaps the STC could spearhead the definition of a universal iconic language, similar to that used by the textile industry. To that end, I submit the following:
I suspect that its inability to be translated will be a roadblock. Perhaps you can do better.
